Polyflor heads to the seaside for fish and chip shop makeover
Wood effect luxury vinyl tiles and hardwearing Polysafe safety flooring from Polyflor were chosen to create a nautical inspired interior design scheme for the brand new Copperfish bar, restaurant and takeaway in the seaside destination of Mumbles Pier in Swansea, Wales.
Local contractors Pro-Spec Interiors Ltd installed Polyflor flooring in front of house areas and behind the scenes at Copperfish, which serves traditional fish and chips in their takeaway as well as cocktails and burgers in their bar restaurant.
Heavy commercial Affinity255 PUR luxury vinyl tiles in the rustic Cross Sawn Timber design were used for most of the restaurant floor area, with random planks of the Aspen Pine and Flamed Chestnut designs added in to create a unique reclaimed timber look.
Developed for heavy traffic commercial environments such as the leisure sector where there are high levels of footfall, the durable Affinity255 collection features an eclectic mix of 16 authentically reproduced wood plank designs in a wide plank format, incorporating both traditional styles and contemporary trends. This product’s 2mm gauge means that it can be easily installed alongside other 2mm vinyl floorcoverings including Polyflor’s homogeneous, heterogeneous and safety flooring ranges. Affinity255 LVT also features a cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) which protects the floor and allows for a simple maintenance regime.
Polysafe Apex safety flooring in the Breccia and Chromite shades was used in the back of house kitchen areas, behind the bar and around the takeaway servery. Polysafe Apex is a high durability 2.5mm gauge safety floor available in 6 functional shades, which provides sustainable wet slip resistance and underfoot protection where there is a risk of oil and grease spillages in food production, processing and busy commercial kitchen environments. With high durability for the guaranteed life of the product, Apex meets HSE Guidelines achieving an in-situ result of 45 + on the Pendulum Wet Test (4S Rubber/Slider 96), carries an ex-factory R12 rating and fully conforms with EN 13845, the particle based safety flooring standard.
Bert Bollom, Director at Mumbles Pier commented, “Polyflor flooring has helped us add the finishing touches to our new Copperfish restaurant which is a fantastic new addition to Mumbles Pier. Customers have been commenting on the interior design scheme and saying how much they love it.”
Polyflor’s Affinity255 and Polysafe Apex ranges have impressive environmental credentials, achieving BRE A+ ratings in major use areas and Indoor Air Comfort Gold, assuring that VOC emissions are below any globally determined levels. Both ranges are also 100% recyclable via the Recofloor vinyl take back scheme.
