Flooring from the Polysafe Wood fx PUR and Polysafe Vogue Ultra PUR ranges was fitted by Cardiff-based flooring contractors Puma Floors to the £8 million new build project managed by main contractors Willmott Dixon Construction and funded by Powys County Council and the Welsh Government. Polyflor’s high performance flooring was selected to meet the demands of Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd’s modern, new school building which can accommodate up to 300 pupils.
Polysafe Vogue Ultra PUR safety flooring in Woodland Grey was installed in the school’s classrooms and toilet areas. High clarity timber effect Polysafe Wood fx PUR safety flooring in the Classic Oak shade was fitted in the school hall and conference room.
Sian Davies, Headteacher at Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd commented, “Our brand new facility has given our school community and the local area a real boost. Our vision has become a reality with this wonderful new building which has been designed to very high energy-saving standards.”
The sustainability credentials of Polyflor’s flooring are supported with the award of BES 6001 for responsible sourcing and certificated BRE Global A+ ratings for the Wood fx and Vogue Ultra ranges amongst others, which helped contribute to the BREEAM credits earned during the Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd development. This resulted in an overall Excellent rating for the project, the highest level of environmental performance a building can be awarded.
