Since opening, Wooss Café has established itself as a popular addition to Melbourne’s hospitality sector, serving those who pass through the heart of the city. Thanks to expertly balanced design and functionality, the popular hotspot provides customers with a serene escape during their busy day.
Interior design was managed by locally based AXE Architects, overseen by Yew Hann Loo, Co-Founder & Managing Director, alongside Mei Tang, Project Leader.
Wooss Café was inspired by nature. The client wished for patrons to feel as though they were walking through a tranquil woodland. Rather than simply replicating this aesthetic, AXE Architects strived to encapsulate the atmosphere it holds.
To achieve this, they integrated lush landscaping, biophilic elements, curved timber forms, and earthy textures to shape the space. When supplemented by warm, natural materials and soft lighting, the result was a calm, organic environment in which patrons felt encouraged to slow down, connect, and enjoy their experience.
After carefully researching the most suitable flooring option for Wooss Café, AXE Architects proposed Polysafe Stone fx PUR
In addition to its extensive colour palette, the client strongly favoured its versatility, which allowed for the creation of seamless, curved, or fluid floor patterns.
Overall, the flooring offered a smart, practical, and durable design solution, making it the ideal choice for this modern project.
Subsequently, AXE Architects specified a considered duo of Polysafe Stone fx PUR shades:
- Flagstone Grey (5091) – 45m2
- Clay Stone (5092) – 60m2
These complementary colour tones provide a soft, realistic concrete finish that contributes towards the warm, natural ambience within the café.
Beyond its stylish appearance, Polysafe Stone fx PUR offers sustainable slip resistance, meeting the high standards required to achieve 36+ on the wet pendulum test, which is guaranteed for the life of the product.
AXE Architects saw that such credentials made the flooring perfectly suited for high-traffic commercial settings such as Wooss Café.
